Iris Shawcroft: Look at where the money is made. Software. What appeals to you most? Choose the one that you find most interesting.
Curt Broadhead: um your trying to compare apples and oranges there:JAVA: A server side language that is run on a host machine and outputs results to a User machine.ORACLE: A database technology that uses SQL (most databases do) to index records.Hardware Networking: The actual hardware that makes up the connection between PC's that is servers, routers, cabling (fibre optics, cat5/6), firewalls, modems (though not necessary in a network). The first thing is you wanna learn programming or you wanna learn how to configure and set up networks? If programming is your goal then id say learn JAVA as that will involve learning some form of database tech anyways be it oracle or mysql. If however you wanna learn how to set up and troubleshoot the physical connections between PC's the hardware road is the one u wanna walk....Show more
Curtis! Josef: It's up to your personal preference, but in my opinion you should go with hardware.
