Bryant Chaudhry: Keep your car. You'll come out worse if you try to sell it now. If you're concerned about your job, try to pay it off early if possible. In fact, you should be reducing your debt as much as possible.
Mario Stricklan: With a budget of $35K you have all kinds of options and choices. Here's an article that has a lot of different suggestions:http://www.firstcarguide.com/which-car-should-i-bu...
Darnell Cutliff: A buyer is free to sue you for any reason they want. Wrong color shirt, because you are ugly or because your grandmother wears army boots.Their chances of WINNING are very close to zero.Just show up for court and don't cuss out the judge. You will win....Show more
Tomeka Hameen: Whether or not you knew about the problems - it's his problem. Used cars are sold as is with no warranty. You could not possibly know about future breakdowns. Sucks for the guy who bought your car, but unfortunately that's the risk when you buy a used car.It! sounds like this guy is trying to rip YOU off.
Miguel Densley: So IF I lose my job, then should I sell it? Or even then, would I be out so much money that I should just try to hang on to it?
Asa Soho: I don't think the buyer has a foot to stand on, unless they have some proof that some of the items fixed by them had been claimed to be good by you. This is from a few years ago 2007-2008, but a dealer I worked for had an 2004 Subaru Legacy with 19X,XXX miles on it. We took thing in for $50 and it had new tires and they did the required services (for a dealer to sell it, private party doesn't have to) and we put it out for $4.5K. It sold in a couple days. Almost 2 months later the lady who bought it storms in and says the transmission blew up and she was going to sue.Blah blah, long story short she was informed it was still a buyer beware society. So as long as you didn't misrepresent anything you should be in the clear....Show more
Alexandria Popik: The! only way he would have any chance of winning a lawsuit is if ! you provided in writing a guarantee of specific condition about the car. What does this moron expect for $1000? He is just trying to rattle your chain. Tell him to "pack sand" and if he proceeds, you will counter-sue for harassment. All used vehicles are sold as-is unless written stipulations are provided.

Brian Marquina: I bought a 2008 Infiniti G35. I've only put 3000 miles on it. I got a good finance rate (2.9) so I put no money down. I owe about 33k on it. I have no problems affordi! ng it right now, but I don't feel very secure in my job due to the economy. I obviously am negative on the car, but I have the money to pay off the negative equity portion. Is it worth it to pay the negative equity and sell the car, and then get a cheaper new car?
Stanton Valdivia: He's blowin' smoke. He will waste his time and money filing a small claims suit against you. If he calls you, hang up. If he writes you, ignore it. However, if he does follow-through with a lawsuit, don't ignore that. Yes, they can sue you. You can sue anyone for anything at any time. Doesn't mean he'll win. You show up to court, be as courteous to the judge as is expected, and explain that "on such-and-such date you sold a 10-year old vehicle as-is to the defendant... no guarantee was implied or written." Your case will be over in 5 minutes. He has to prove that you misrepresented the car. This is nearly impossible to do. If he says "well, she told me that it ran great and gave her no pr! oblems", this is called "puffery" and holds no water with a judge. It a! ll comes down to what's in writing. Just because you didn't write "as-is" on the bill of sale means nothing. ALL private party vehicle sales are deemed "as-is". If there was a manufacturer's warranty on the car, it's transferable. If not, so be it. *Side note -- Honestly? The buyer's an idiot if he thinks that any judge is going to side with him. A $1000 car is a crapshoot no matter how you look at it. He's just trying to scare you. I'd give $10 that says he never files the papers for the lawsuit....Show more
Andra Oger: Private Party transactions are as-is in most states. He had the responsibility to have it inspected and he did not...meaning he can sue you but he'll lose.
Shandi Wedge: I would prefer a sedan over an suv...
Inez Relihan: I want to sell my dodge intrepid SE its a 2004 its got 84,000 miles and yea everything works on it but i need to sell it or my other car is gonna get repoed so yea i live in fort wayne ,Indiana so yea hit me up if ur in! trested and close by .....i want 3,000 for it

Eulah Hugill: You may want to look at a Chrysler 300, Chrysler 200, Dodge Charger or the Dodge Dart.Check out the following websites for more information on the above vehicles: www.Chrysler.com or www.Dodge.comGood luck finding the right first car for you. Lisa Customer CareChrysler Group LLC
Marvel Mcaulay: I tried to anwer this question but it got deleted. RELAX THIS GUY IS FULL OF IT, ESPECIALLY SINCE HE SENT A LETTER RIGHT AFTER, YOU HAVE TO DRIVE A CAR FOR AWHILE TO EVEN FIGURE STUFF OUT please do not worry anymore, this guy has probably done this before, and trys to get money back, he is a con artist, he can pay ! small claims and have you served, but he will lose, 100 percent of the ! time, and this is why, NO ONE MADE THAT JACK *** BUY THE CAR he had plenty of time to take it to a mechanic to get it inspected, you do not have to write as is on anything, however, it doesnt hurt. NEVER EVER LET CHEATING CON MEN WORRY YOU WITH THEIR CRAP all small claims court judges recognize used car sales as as is ALWAYS. THERE IS NO WAY TO PREDICT what will break on a used car next, simply from the fact this jerk mailed a letter right after buying, I believe he has pulled this crap before, it takes me weeks to figure out all the things a used car needs after I buy one and I am really good at finding good used cars. so do not let this guy rent space in your head, there is nothing he can do. If he calls on the phone, tell him not to call again, if he writes any more letters, put return to sender, and if he does file a case and you get served, do not worry, it happended to me, and the judge threw it out, all that happened was he wasted the 150 dollar fee, and I laughed ! at him outside the courtroom, take care best of luck. the guy is a turkey!!!!...Show more
Sylvie Snetting: Personal suggestion. Find a cheap disposable car with an airbag. Yeah. Honestly. Spend 1,000 tops on it. Make sure that it is street legal and has a decent engine. It will have some problems but I suggest doing the work on it yourself. Grab a Chilton's or Hayne's repair manual from your auto parts store. You'll get several things out of this.1. You'll learn a lot about taking care of your rust bucket.2. When, not if but when, you crash it or drive it off a cliff, you'll know exactly what not to do.3. Take all the money you saved and get yourself a real car.By doing this, you'll have a much greater appreciation for your vehicle. You'll also know exactly what your limits are as far as speeding, safe handling, and braking distances. For you second car, I suggest getting a Jeep Cherokee or a Toyota Celica. I've owned both of these vehicles and it's really hard to kil! l them. You have to abuse those cars to get them to stop running. Becau! se this will be your second car, you won't be abusing it and it will last you a lifetime. If you want something that is cheap for repairs, go with a Ford. Parts for these cars are very common and with the experience you gained from doing some simple repairs yourself, you'll save even more. Take all the extra money you still have and buy some real estate. In this economy, the property will outlive both vehicles and by the time you're in your mid to late 20's you can sell the property and buy yourself your own home.1 way ticket to freedom and financial independence. One other thing, doing the repairs yourself is very satisfying when it runs and you get a personal sense of accomplishment because you did it. It makes the car more than just a vehicle but makes it YOUR vehicle.
Roosevelt Pendill: No. Not worth it at all.You know you'll be upside-down. Instead of trading in and paying (essentially throwing away) the difference that becomes negative equity, get a good idea of ! how much difference it will be, and take that amount and shove it in the bank. This will be your "cushion" in case you do end up jobless. Let it build interest. Absolutely no point in trying to trade in a year-old vehicle in this soft market....Show more
Mildred Pombo: No. Private party car sales are presumed to be "as is" transactions. It was not your responsibility to sell them a good car, it was their responsibility to determine if the car was in proper condition before buying it. Tell them to go pack sand, they have no case whatsoever.
Mark Hovanes: Unless you signed some a document giving him some sort of warranty on the vehicle....he has no case whatsoever. It is the buyers responsibility to inspect the vehicle before purchase.
Irma Poiter: When I sold my car few years ago the buyer took it to the local mechanic, paid $40 for complete checkup and the results showed the car needed couple of repairs and some maintenance totaling to about $1500. The per! son still wanted the car so I knocked off $400 from the price and she b! ought it knowing full well what the car needed. As in your case, you don't own him anything, I wouldn't even offer $500. It only makes you look bad as if you knew there was something wrong with the car....Show more
Buster Buchko: That guy is so full of it (you sold him a 10 year old car for less than $1000 with about 145,000 miles).... he has as much chance winning this one as you will see a pig fly today.
Cherlyn Tefera: Hyundai makes very affordable, reliable, and safe cars and SUV's. Most are really good on gas too.
