Why cant I get back on my diet.i miss cake n baked cookies..chips ughhh?

Rosio Pasculli: You're stuck in a vicious circle. You slipped and besides eating what you promised yourself you wouldn't eat, you now feel guilty about the slip. The guilt is a negative feeling which increases your stress level and makes you want to eat comfort foods - and there's not much that's more comforting than the nom-noms you mention in your question. You need to make peace with the fact that you slipped. Forgive yourself. It's no big thing. In fact, it's probably a good thing. Depriving yourself during a diet is punishment. Learn that the treats you love aren't going to permanently disappear from earth just because you're not eating them for a while. Learn that you can eat a couple of cookies or a small piece of cake BECAUSE YOU WANT TO. You are in control. You can eat or you can not eat it. Once you no longer feel so awful about your gastronomic sins, once you feel in control and can give permission for a treat, your stress level will come down and so! will your need to consume the goodies. They will lose their hold on you....Show more

Arnoldo Budzynski: You've asked three good question here - see my other answers! It's natural to crave sweets, high-fat foods, and salty foods, even though they are bad for us. It used to be hard to get food, so our bodies actually get a good feeling from eating that pizza with extra cheese, especially when it comes with ice cream! But these foods are easy to get today, and it's easy for us to get into a pattern of eating junk food like this every day. If you have been on a diet, it can be tough to fight the cravings and stick to your program. You might experiment with a few strategies to see what works best for you. The plan is to give in to cravings, but just a little bit, so it doesn't affect your weight or your workout plan.#1. Have a little treat every day. Using 100-calories packs, or very careful measuring, eat a small amount of something 'bad' every day.#2. Eat 'good', ! but 'fun' foods. Instead of ice cream, try a 'milkshake' with! lowfat milk, a banana, and a drop or two of vanilla. Snack on blueberries instead of potato chips, or crunch on vegetables all day long (watch out for ranch dressing, which is high in fat!)#3. Eat perfect for a whole week, to prepare for a party, holiday, or other 'treat day'. This doesn't give you an excuse to 'pig out', but you don't have to pay close attention to every little calorie for an afternoon or evening.I use a food diary to keep track of how I'm eating. When you write everything down, it helps you keep track of how often you are off your diet. That way, you stay in control, instead of just eating too much until you start gaining weight again. The article below has some great details for keeping track of your diet to lose weight and keep it off!...Show more

Libby Berkovitch: you need to ask this in the diet section. Your question has NOTHING to do with ethnic cuisine.

Marcel Then: Find a way to add these into your "diet" by using a cumulative ! caloric intake method. It's fine.Be good all week, splurge on Sunday.OR be good all week but allow for two treats that total about 150 cals.Exercise....Show more
