Chances of finding employment?

Keven Drumgole: Your lacking schooling for 2-3 years is no big deal at all. I finished college 20 years ago, and am just now looking into grad school for a different job. My mother went to various grad schools MANY years apart, and having gray hair in class was not a problem.Your having competed a vocational program at a local comm college was probably what got you into UCLA. They saw that you had some initiative. If you complete a degree in Spanish, you could be a teacher of spanish in a city school, for example. If you go to grad school and further your degree in Spanish, you could teach in a college. You have drive. Good for you....Show more

Betsey Copp: You will be able to find employment. Once you get into college it will be much easier. The college campus should have an on campus recruiting center and an alumni network to take advantage of.There is nothing to be ashamed of. You do not need work experience right now as you can do a lot in college to get wha! t you need after you graduated from UCLA.In college join clubs, take leadership positions.. also apply to work to assist your professor. I felt like you before I got in college. I have interviewed people who have had no working experience but lots of school activities.Use your activities to do internships to launch your career. No one recruiting from UCLA is going to expect you to have real work working experience... your on campus activities should be enough. Your pre-college work history is not as important as your college work experiences. When I went to college, I had only work experiences as a pizza delivery guy and a working at a restaurant. As a college student, people give you the benefit of the doubt and are more willing to take you under their wing for an internship if you show your passions and hardwork. Unpaid jobs are more important than paid jobs if they provide a better experience....Show more

Alberto Kozub: Thanks for the advice everyone. I am entering! UCLA as a transfer student (junior), so I will only have to c! omplete 2 years for my BA. I think there was some confusion about my 2 years spent at the local community college. Thanks Again....Show more
